As I look back over the extraordinary events of the past year, I find myself steeped in a profound sense of gratitude. Gratitude for the health of my family, the incredible community that Carrboro has been and continues to be, and for all the daydreams that are becoming a reality before our eyes. The totality of my life experiences to date has brought me to the beginning of a closely held dream of owning an Italian-themed eatery.

My Carrboro friends, welcome to Grata Café.

Italian for “gratitude” Grata welcomes all to dine at our tables. To share a meal, COVID safe of course, with family and friends and feel like you are dining in my home because you are. We will deliver to you Italian classics and inspired dishes cooked from scratch with love and consistency.

Sunday supper is sacred in my home and will become a new Carrboro “must do” experience. Community, diversity, inclusivity, kindness, and gratitude are the cornerstones Grata is built on.

Many of you may know me as “Rachel’s husband” through Ceremony Salon. Some of you may know me from the Not So Normal Races I produced in Carrboro for 5 years. And yet others of you may know me from the many philanthropic endeavors I have done during the past 12 years in my role as the stay-at-home/work-from-home Dad. Grata has been in the back of my mind for over 35 years and it is an honor to share this new journey with all of you. So please, come share a meal with your family and mine; we cannot wait to meet you.
